The BH Stonefly (Black) Nymph is a highly effective pattern, especially for targeting trout in fast-moving waters. Designed to imitate the natural stonefly nymph, this fly is a must-have in any trout angler’s box.

Materials used:

• Bead Head (BH): A gold or black bead head for added weight, helping the fly sink quickly to the bottom where stonefly nymphs are found.
• Hook: Typically tied on a strong 2X long nymph hook (sizes #8-14) to handle aggressive trout strikes.
• Body: Black synthetic or natural dubbing for a realistic, segmented look.
• Ribbing: Thin wire for added durability and segmentation.
• Tail: Black goose biots to mimic the natural tail of a stonefly.
• Legs: Rubber or pheasant tail fibers to give movement and life-like appearance underwater.
