The Orange and Partridge is a classic North Country soft-hackle wet fly originating from northern England. It is a simple yet highly effective pattern designed to imitate emerging insects, drowned terrestrials, or small aquatic invertebrates.

Typical materials:

* Hook: Wet fly or soft-hackle hook (sizes 12–18)
* Thread/Body: Orange silk or orange tying thread
* Hackle: Grey partridge feather wound sparsely around the collar

The soft partridge fibers pulse naturally in the water, giving the fly lifelike movement that often triggers strikes from trout and grayling. It is most effective when fished on the swing, allowed to drift naturally, or retrieved slowly in rivers and still waters.
